Shark Bay to the Pinnacles

Hamelin Pool

Decided to stay a night at Hamelin Pool and take our time at checking out Shell Beach and the lowest forms of life ‘Stromatolites’ at Hamelin Pool.

Shell Beach
On closer inspection the sand is actually made up of shells.
Lorraine trying to shelter from the sun/wind and waiting for Jane to do arty farty pictures.
Shell brick quarry … they use the bricks for restoring the old buildings.
The lowest forms of life ‘Stromatolites’.
Kalbarri

Spent a couple of days exploring the national park.

Nature’s Window
Oscar at Nature’s Window … just for Steph.
Murchison River Gorge
Now sorry to bore you but lots of photos of rugged cliffs … these cliffs run for 8 kilometers just south of Kalbarri.

Island Rock
and more cliffs
amd more cliffs
Pot Alley
View from the Red Bluff lookout and we were lucky enough to see a large pod of dolphins as well.
Walkaway

Drove thru Walkaway to check out WAs biggest wind farm … 54 wind mills… and boy does the area get a lot of wind!
Jurien Bay

Spent a few nights and explored the area.

Lorraine and Jane at the Pinnacles.

Jane trying to get up a sand dune/blow.
A white sand dune/blow.
Finally Jane and Lorraine caught some fish that were big enough to eat … skipjacks and herring and you wouldn’t believe the one that got away a 20kg Samson … no joking the guys next to us went running for bigger rods and live bait which it sucked onto but when it felt the tension it just spat it straight back out … very exciting.
